eSnips Unveils Video & Audio
Content Sharing at DEMOfall 2006

Users Can Create & Share a Variety of Digital Content, Including
Video & Audio From One Central Location

San Diego, CA – September 26, 2006 – eSnips, the social sharing site, where like-minded members can share any digital content from one central location, today announced that it will unveil the ability for users to create or select digital content, including audio and video files, and share it with others.

As one of 70 hand-picked new technologies chosen to present to the technology industry’s movers and shakers on the DEMOfall stage this week, eSnips will share what drives people to share, socialize, sell and promote their tastes, hobbies, interests, creative work and other aspects of their professional and personal live online.

Unlike so many social media sharing sites, eSnips allows users to share every file type, not just photos, videos or links. Users can create their own web space with personalized content that they can either share or keep private. Once a user creates different folders for each of their passions and interests, they can then decide what files to put in each folder. The user controls who is allowed to view each folder – an individual view, a select group, or the world.

The ability for users to generate both audio and video onsite, allows any user with a webcam or microphone to create their own rich media files. Recording either a voice or video file is simplified to the point where a user does not need to worry about media formats or playback compatibility. Users can add a video or audio recording to any folder, with the same ease that they upload files today. It is also easy to add a rich media introduction on their profile, an introduction to each of their folders, and even leave audio/video comments in other members’ files.

“We’ve simplified the creation of rich media to the point where anyone with a webcam can publish their own audio and video files,” said Yael Elish, CEO and co-founder of eSnips. “We’re sure this feature will appeal to our growing community of musicians, karaoke lovers and performing artists, who may have found it difficult to publish their songs and covers before.”

Elish adds, “with eSnips, people only have to go to one place for all their sharing needs. Our goal is to make sharing your interests and passions easy, and to appeal to every user, not just the technical wizards. We want to make sharing all about the user, and to reflect the many facets of our user’s lives in their online identity in one centralized location.”

eSnips imitates what you do and how you live in the ‘real world.’ It is targeted to mainstream users who do not necessarily blog, have the time and interest to update files everyday, or join several sites in order to share all of their passions.
“Soon, social publishing will be as ubiquitous as email. The winners in this space will be the ones who understand the needs of the mainstream, not just teens and early adopters,” said Chris Shipley, executive producer of the DEMO conferences. “eSnips appeals to that mainstream as it fills a big gap between the teen-oriented social networks and the impersonalized vertical sharing sites. It has the potential to become the one place people go to for online sharing.”

eSnips is based on the award-winning technology we developed for our Net Snippets products, which are used by tens of thousands of professional business and academic researchers. The underlying technology is light, stable, totally safe, and compliant with industry standards.
